Is my buyer messing around?

My buyer was contacted today for an update as the offer was accepted almost three weeks ago but no valuation appears to have been booked. He evidenced his deposit and his buy to let mortgage with Natwest at the offer stage (presumably AIP).

He said today that the surveyors were meant to be out today or tomorrow according to Natwest, my agent has had no appt booked and I've heard nothing. He said he was going back to Natwest to find out what was going on.

Is this feasible? I'm a bit green in this game so have no idea, the EA seemed to think it was a bit irregular.

NatWest are currently in a little bit of a mess and behind with their processing, plus there are many reasons why a valuation could have taken this long. Ask your buyer to request surveyor details and then let estate agent chase valuers to book survey appointment.

You can expect the EA not to have a clue, as in this case.

Nat West are embarrassingly slow currently.

May have found another property of interest. So is stalling at the moment.

I hope that isn't the case. They were keen to move fast as they needed to find another property quickly due to a current mortgage offer (their previous property was refused at survey stage due to structural damage). This is why I'm a bit confused about what is happening, as surely the mortgage has already been underwritten? The buyer's solicitor is in contact with mine and contracts have been submitted.

    Hi Roje

I dont know if this will help you feel a little better. I am currently going through Natwest for our mortgage application after our first property fell through for structural reasons. We are around week 2 of waiting for our valuation to be booked. We are chasing up most days. So they do seem to be a bit behind at the moment. The same thing may be happening with your buyer?

Thanks Sparkle. It's been a full 3 weeks now and still no survey booked. The EA has spoken to the company doing the valuation survey though and they've confirmed they will be in touch, how can it take so long?! Glad yours is sorted now Sparkle, hope it's put your mind at rest a bit about the mortgage?
