I agree with everyone else, at the end of July.
Good luck ...make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
As long as your set up on the payroll in time, then I'd agree with everyone else that it'll be the end of July.
The first month can be tricky if you start late in the month, you might miss the payroll cut off and get a month and a bit pay the following month, but starting on the 1st should be OK.0 -
There are three thing you need to find out.
The pay period.
The pay day for that period.
The cut off date(for extras like overtime expences)
An example could be
Calendar month
Last friday of the month
15th0 -

This. If the pay day is, for instance, the 15th of the month, the cutoff day will probably be something like the 10th and the payroll run will happen on something like the 14th. It's not unusual when starting a new job to have to wait 6 weeks or so for your first payment ( in the above example, you'd be paid on 15th August ). You won't lose anything - your first payment will be larger than a normal month's pay.
The best thing is to speak to either the HR or Payroll department, they'll be able to confirm for you. If waiting 6 weeks for your first payment will cause difficulties, most companies are quite prepared to give you an advance - again, HR will be the best people to ask. It's a not uncommon situation, they'll be very familiar with dealing with it.0 -

Why are people so adamant that it'll be end of July ? We don't even know when the company's normal pay date is. It's very common for employees to be paid mid-month, and the pay date in my previous job was the 26th of the month, my current pay date is the 12th of the month. I'm not saying the OP WON'T get paid at end of July, but without knowing the company's payroll schedule no-one can give a definitive answer.0

Don't you think "month in arrears" leads inevitably to it being at the end of a month? That is especially with the employment starting on the 1st, which isn't a Monday.0 -

That's not how I read it. I understand it to mean you get paid for the work you did in the previous month, but that's not necessarily a calendar month. So if the pay date is the 22nd, then on 22nd of July you'd be paid for what you did from 22nd June to the 21st July. That's how it's always been done in places I've worked. In fact, in my experience many companies specifically choose a mid-month payroll date, as month-end is always very busy for the Finance department anyway, so they don't want to add to the burden by having to process payroll as well.0
