Barlcays Loan

I have just been refused to increase my loan with Barclays, but they won't give me an answer why they won't give me any money!
A few months ago I claimed my bank charges back and got £900 settlement out of court (against the original claim of £1100), so it wasn't a huge claim!
The did suggest that I contacted Experian etc., which i did, and they couldn't understand why I had been refused as I have no problem with my credit.
Could this refusal just be because I claimed from them and they have now 'blacklisted' me so to speak? Has anyone else had any problems with this?

AnnieLou,
I'm sure your claim will have flagged you on their systems as an 'unprofitable' customer.
They might also be questioning why you need a top-up loan when you have recently received £900 in bank charge refunds.
Generally though, banks are being a lot more cautious about who they lend to and how much, particularly as they can no longer subsidise their lending businesses through high charges.
If your credit rating is fine why not try elsewhere?
R.Smile , it makes people wonder what you have been up to.0 -
Rafter,
Thanks for your reply,
I've been a customer of Barclays for nearly 20 years and that's the loyalty they pay you - it stinks!!
I will indeed go somewhere else, I'm even tempted to transfer all my accounts to another bank.
It's crazy that if you owed thousands of pounds, no doubt the banks would throw money at you.
Rant over - i'm off to find another loan0 -

But you threatened to take them to court over bank charges??? what do you expect them to do.
Loyalty??? think your the one thats not loyal-threatening court. Your not going to be one of their most valuable customers are you.0 -
Barclays is the worst place to get a loan, i got a £2000 load 3 years ago and they added extra things in there like insurance which i dont need and cant use anyway because i need to be out of work for 8 weeks to use it!
i still owe £1500 from a £2000 loan and ive been paying it for 3 years now!
soon as i get my charges back im leaving barclays!0 -

It is proven that the banks shouldn't charge you bank charges so the loyalty was never there to begin with, with regards to banks!0 -

If they thought they were wrong over bank charges, why pay up out of court?! They should never have charged them in the first place. They make enough money out of me from account charges as it is. As Jenni said, there was no loyalty from them in the first place.0
