Best Sun Cream for Triathlete

Hi - son is now into triathlons.

I thought I'd get him some good waterproof sunblock that would stand the course of water and perspiration.

Any recommendations for the best stuff to get please?

  • I think that P20 stuff is supposed to be pretty good. I've not used it much myself, though, so can't really give a personal review.

People seem to recommend P20 too quickly. It doesn't have a very high UVA star rating, consider something else.

My wife uses Boots Soltan Active for her running, (up to marathon), reading the blurb it would seem suitable for triathletes as well.

id suggest the P20 brand - the higher format of the factor 50.

Thanks all - yes I'd go for F50 whatever we get.

That used to be the case, but apparently they've now changed their formulation. Their SPF30 product has a UVA 5 star rating and SPF50 has 4 stars. The British Association of Dermatologists recommend 4 or 5 star rated products.

*Edit: Actually - on a different website it says 3 stars. There doesn't appear to be some reputable site where you can check it, might be on the bottle though. As I said, I'm not really a user of it myself, I just know lots of athletes who swear by it.

I had a look at the bottles in Tesco today - most of the P20 products were 5*, although one was 4*.
