Barclaycard Initial.... maybe... waiting!

While I was on my Barclays internet banking, I saw a Barclaycard Initial "ad" . Thought what the hell, may as well apply, it will be a "no" but I'm not looking for any other credit so a footprint won't matter.

Well, it wasn't an outright "no" - I'll hear in a few days apparently. It asked me to set up a passcode & password. Not getting my hopes up because I was only discharged in March & Barclaycard were one of my creditors but possibly?

  • Good luck 😀 I'd love to have a barclaycard again one day, they always used to send me special offers even though my card only started off as the initial.

I made the mistake of applying for a proper account with Barclays last week. It wasn't a straight decline, they asked me to take my card into a branch as ID. I was going to just leave it but then I thought well what's the worst thing that can happen, I'm sure they see lots of people getting declined every day, how bad could it be! Well the answer is very bad :( she brought up my account and everything was going well, she said my account was marked as available to upgrade, great 😀 I don't know if she did a credit search or if it's a marker that is on my account but next thing I knew my bankruptcy was glowing red on the screen :(:(:( I expected a decline but I wasn't expecting her to be able to see why. I could not get out of there fast enough, the poor woman was still trying to flog me a package on my account as I was running lol

Oh well, I am perfectly happy with my cash card account but it would be nice to have contactless because I will have to start using buses soon and it will mean I have to tie money up on an Oyster card, I guess it's not a huge issue and a lot better than being in debt up to my eyeballs!

Awww no, that was horrible for you. Hope you don't have to wait too long. If I don't get mine this time round (which I'm fully expecting) , I'll wait another year before looking again.
Time, time & more time. Just got to be patient lol

Yes, patience is a virtue I agree. I'm only discharged 4 months lol. I have Vanquis & Cap 1. I'm doing well with these two (small spends & full payment) but saw an opportunity to try & get back with Barclaycard.

I phoned them today but no decision yet. I'm sure it will be a no realistically! If it is then I will stick with what I'm doing for a few years. It's no problem & I don't need credit.
