It would be very rare to have a nhs GP, why can't you pay for one at your surgery?

As virtually all GP surgeries are private businesses who then claim from the NHS it is exactly what I mean.

I can test your blood for £50 quids.

I can tell you whether it is red or blue.

I can tell you now that it is definately red.

You owe me £50 of your quids.

    Hope this helps.

If you google Private Blood Tests London, lots of companies come up.

    Here's one, for example

Just a word of caution with arranging your own blood tests - you also need to be able to interpret the results. Make sure you get good professional advice.

I got some done by Blue Horizon last year when my G.P. wouldn't do a full thyroid profile. They were linked to from the Thyroid UK website so thought they would be ok and they were! As part of the service, they interpreted the results too and gave a simple explanation.

They offer different services, for example some blood tests can be done by finger !!!!! so can be done yourself. Some of them need a full vial so you can go to a private hospital for them to take your blood or you can get it done yourself at your surgery and send it off. Luckily I am friends with a nurse who is a phlebotomist as well so she took mine and I sent it away...it did work out slightly cheaper that way as well.
