Hello!
i would be really interested in the short story writing comps- it seems like a way to entertain myself and make some money (maybe!) plus im so rubbish at crosswords etc that i would never win a comp for those
So, if you have any thoughts about where to start i would love to hear them!
well done on taking so much action with your debt, its really motivating

I just noticed I have a star already - that didn't take me long! But then, you never can shut me up
Skinted Stodge, thanks very much! I deff. want to get other's like yourself involved in this, like you say, good way to entertain yourself (it costs nothing to write a story and only about £3 to enter comps, although a lot are free to enter) and you never know, you COULD win prizes! Someone's gotta win
.
I'm waiting for Seaxwyn to email me, but watch this space, there will probably be a shiny new thread popping up in no time! lol.

Dear Diary,
Well. the forms from CCCS arrived in yesterday's post for setting up our DMP, hurrah! Need to find time today to scan the creditor letter and fill it in for each [STRIKE]blood-sucker[/STRIKE] creditor.
Haven't done anything else from our 'to-do' list... really need to meal-plan today and do the shopping list for tonight so we can (try to) stick to it.
Oooh, started the new DFWSSW's thread today, so my fingers are crossed for that getting some interest - have so many ideas rattling round in my head, REALLY need to sit and WRITE! I need to think of pound signs...
Since joining this site, there suddenly doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day??? I can sit here for ages reading threads and then wonder where the time went for washing pots?
Well, diary, as much as I love ya', I really can't sit here all day..."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

Hi EmptyPockets,
Good luck with your DF mission. You certainly sound very organised. Good luck also with your short stories... I'd love to be able to say I can write also, but alas no.

Dear Diary,
I haven't had time to make an entry recently - well, I've been busy saving money here there and everywhere!
So, what's new then? Well, all the paperwork for our DMP has been posted and we're just waiting for our welcome pack from CCCS. And I have a confession to make... we changed our 'phone number last night and went ex directory
. Yes, it might seem cowardly or look like we are still burying our heads in the sand again, but it isn't like that at all. The calls from creditors were getting worse, more and more frequent, starting at 7.45am and carrying on until gone 8.30pm, not taking 'no' for an answer, refusing to only contact us in writing (saying they 'can't' do that! lol), badgering us to borrow money from elsewhere to pay then off, etc etc.
It was getting rediculous to the point that we stopped answering the 'phone anyway, only to then go through the embarrassment of explaining to family/friends why we never answer the 'phone (oh, we were upstairs/out/in bed/the phone isn't working, etc).
The relief as soon as the number was changed was like a three ton weight being lifted off our shoulders. At least we can stop worrying about answering the phone now...
I didn't get chance to meal-plan OR make a shopping list last week, but still managed to get the food bill just under the usual budget of £50.00... HOWEVER!!!!
- this week I have been very strict with all things money-saving, and yesterday I made sure to sit for an hour to do a week's meal-plan AND a shopping list. I used the old-style boards for guidance and advice (there's even a bottle of stardrops on my list) and... wait for it... the GRAND total of my shopping list comes to £25.20!!! Down from £50.00. How good is that?!
Of course, now all we have to do is stick to the list, but I'm upbeat and confident that we will. Adament that we will.
Not sure what to do with the leftover money, though, I'm thinking it should go straight into the savings jar..?"Your life is what your thoughts make it"
