Provident Error letter

Hey all!

Really sorry, this is my first time posting to this site, so please bear with me.

Six years ago I stupidly took out some a provident loan. When I couldn't repay or wasn't on when agent came, debt rolled up and low and behold I got a ccj.

I went to court to tell the judge I had tried to contact them and all the rest, but no proof and had to accept the ccj and court fee's.

This CCJ was taken off my credit as the Six years past this April! Waaaaa hoooo.

3 weeks ago I had my first ever annual statement. Which I thought was odd, but never the less a threw it away as CCJ has been removed and Ive a few more payments to make (paying 16 per month for the past six year's)

However I've received a letter today, saying they have closed the account, and remaining money (£45.15) owed as a gesture of good will has been removed as they should of sent me annual statements and a computer error, ment I was one of 9,613 people who had not got them. Under the consumer credit act 1974.

I have just rang got a rude lady who said they are sending me a cheque for £16 for this months payment as I have already paid before the letter was issued.

Now, I'm a tad annoyed that this made a ccj, regardless that has gone, but I was advised of I did not stick to my side of the CCJ it could of resulted in bailiffs and all the rest.

However they did not keep within the guide lines of there barging by doing what they should of?????

I know it may seem petty but I am annoyed that I had this ccj for six years, paid fees had the credit rating trashed.

Do I have a right to complain? Get my fees reimburse?

Or do I suck it up and close he book and accept the gesture of goodwill by closing my the account?

Any help ot information would be fab:p

Really sorry for all the typo's!!! Auto correct and also sporting a little flu, so I do apologise. The grammar is also atrocious!

Livelife - you could complain to the FCA they are really clamping down on some of the practices which Provident have been employing for years. I work for Provident and can vouch for how awful they are. Their staff at Head Office are totally unhelpful and most of the managers in the local offices should sue the charm schools from which they graduated. Their customer care or support is atrocious, I saw a manager harass a customer on the phone so much one day that she was in tears and he thought this was funny. Ashamed to work for them at times but hopefully I'm out soon to a company who employ humans with emotions.
  • A lot of there credit agreements used to fail compliance also so wouldn't be enforceable if challenged.
