Halifax and Endowment Compensation

Is anyone else waiting for endowment compensation from the Halifax? We had our endowment complaint upheld in January and were told that we should receive a cheque by the end of March. Despite several phone calls and a letter to the Chief Executive (as advised by the Mail on Sunday), we are still waiting. I think this is atrocious considering we also had an endowment claim upheld by Standard Life in January and received the compensation within 2 weeks. Would be interested to know if anyone else is in the same boat.

    Hi

I was wondering if the compensation claims were both for the same mortgage and if so how can you claim from both parties.

Liz - I received a letter from the Halifax upholding my claim on 23rd January and received my compensation calculation and cheque on 4th April.

So yours is certainly overdue - hope you receive it soon.

    Good Luck and kindest regards

We had two separate endowments - Scottish Amicable and Standard Life. Halifax sold them both. The Scottish Amicable in 1988 when we bought our first house and the Standard Life in 1992 when we moved house. Halifax only agreed to deal with the Scottish Amicable complaint for mis-selling and we had to deal directly with Standard Life with the other one. Both were upheld as mis-sold only Standard Life dealt with theirs really quickly unlike the Halifax.

Received my compensation cheque today but the letter with it gives the figure but no calculations as to how they arrived at it.

Ask them for the breakdown - they will give it.

Thanks. I have just phoned them and they said they would sent it out. I hope they don't take as long to send it as they did the compensation cheque:)
