                    Hi,
Need advice on best payment method for online purchases in USD.
At the moment I use Barclays debit card and not happy with exchange rate + 2.99% charge for every transaction made in foreign currency.
Surely, there must be better options to do that.

I can't help with card advice but just in case it helps anyone, it is always worth checking to see if you can change the currency to sterling on whatever online shop you are using.
With my Nat West debit I pay a small fee for international transactions except where it is possible to select UK sterling at checkout, when there is no charge usually, even though the online seller may be based overseas.0

Halifax Clarity Credit Card or Nationwide Select Credit Card
No foreign exchange conversion fee's, you only pay the exchange rate set by Mastercard or Visa at the time of purchase.
If conversion is done online through the website, they usually add a % conversion fee on top of the exchange rate which is possibly also higher."Real knowledge is knowing the extent of one's ignorance."0
