SA: Self employed and child benefit tax

Does anyone know whether the child benefit tax is paid back out of gross or net income?

e.g. If you're self employed do you deduct the child benefit tax and then calculate the rest of your tax on that?

I don't think you'd need to do that calculation, are there questions about CB on your self assessment tax return? If there are then I'd expect 'the system' to do the sums once it's established that your total income LESS allowance expenses related to your self-employment was over the limit.

And if I am wrong I am sure I will be corrected ...

Hi. I'd like to know how it's deducted for people who are self employed, I.e from gross income or net.
