Notice of Dividends

I’m coming to the end of my 6 year period (I was declared bankrupt on 26th June 2009), however when I’ve put my name into google the first entry that comes up is the gazette with the header ‘Notice of Dividends’.
This has only just appeared within the last year sometime. It has been a bit of an embarrassment for me as I’m in a job where people will search my name to find journal articles I’ve co-authored (I work in the science industry). Is there a reason why this is suddenly appearing at the top of the search page? Will it ever disappear?
Any help appreciated

Hi vicks11
This has more to do with Google's algorithms than anything else, I suspect. My understanding (as a lay person and no sort of IT expert!) is that a page's "ranking" is determined by the number of other pages linking to it and the importance of those other pages. There's a lot more to it than that, but hopefully that gives you some idea. By that logic, I would expect this to get pushed down the list the more often people search for and link to you in the context of your science writings.
Old notices in the Gazette remain accessible pretty much indefinitely - that is the nature of a public record, alas. Is yours a relatively common name? Someone looking for your articles won't necessarily assume you are the same "Joe Bloggs" as referred to in the Gazette listing.

Thanks for that explanation Dennis. Does that mean that page has been popular and people have been looking at it?
Gosh this is turning into a bit of a nightmare as I've got a very unique name, the only one in the United Kingdom I think. Guess people have been clicking on it, my 6 years is up next week and it's suddenly all come back to haunt me.0 -

thats one of the reasons why your top of the tree in Google's page then....not really down to how many people visit the page for a read (who would...the search function on the gazette's page is a NIGHTMARE! to use)..sadly your in the Gazette for life (some bankruptcys around 1800's and upwards!)Not quite a newbie as you think

Thanks, I just wondered why it's suddenly appeared on the top of the search page after 6 years.
Bit depressing to think it's forever going to be there!0 -
You can ask Google to remove the search results but it must be for a reason that isn't in the public interest. As its a bankruptcy notice in the gazette Im not sure this will pass.0

HAving one's Bankrutpcy in the public domain for ever, really isn't such a hardship. Nothing t be ashamed of.
After all, how many 'application' forms will ask if one is 'single'....or, 'divorced?'
Surely, if one is.'divorced', one is single?
Or, is a 'divorced' person somehow less trustworthy, or more morally corrupt, than a single, or a married person?
Yet, no-one seems to bat an eyelid at, the presence of a divorce? Or, even, several of them?
What Divorce, and Bankruptcy, may well tell those who want to know is....that person is NOT AFRAID to make use of the legal system of this country.
Unlike so many who view either of those legal procedures..[usually out of ignorance] as something to be wary of?No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Hang on here a moment...have you tried clearing your cookies and browser history then re-searching?
Google personalises its searches these days - it is trying to be helpful so that if you keep searching for something and clicking through, it will put that search result at the top of the list. This does not necessarily mean that these are the results that other people will see for the same search.0
