Halifax Mortgage Offer for First Time Buyer

My friend applied for first time buyer mortgage through Halifax on 5th June. The valuation was done on 8th June and it was fine. But the Mortgage offer is not here still. Please share your own experience and opinions.

Your friend needs to speak to the broker if there is one.

If not, your friend can look forward to chasing the Lender themselves.

This suggests the applicant has not supplied something Halifax has requested, or what has been supplied isn't acceptable.

  • He applied directly in a Halifax branch. Thank you.
  • Called Halifax and mortgage advisor said pay slip didn't match the bank statement figure. Further verification underway. Looks like at least another week of waiting for mortgage offer!!

Its one of the first things Halifax would check? so why are you blaming them?
  • Not blaming actually, just have to go through with more unbearable waiting games. Waited 2 weeks already. I will update what happens next.

Can I ask why your friend's mortgage wait is so unbearable for you?!

Hi Everyone, Just to update you Halifax asked for employment reference which is being faxed from employer nearly seven days. Any idea how long to hear from Halifax?
  • Good news!! My friend has received the mortgage offer on 15/07/15 finally after nearly 1 & half month. Special thanks to kingstreet and Amnblog.
