referred for a mortgage?

Hey all,

basically me and my partner have put a deposit down on a new build and were told we were ok, that we could afford it.

When we sat down with the independant mortgage adviser, her system was down so she rang us back later on and said that it had been referred. Does anyone know what this means? Can we not get a mortgage? If my partner has bd credit is there no way of getting one? as she is independent does that mean she WILL find us one and we can still be happy we have the house or should we be right to be worried?

Thanks

You should have asked these questions to your mortgage broker.

Referred means that a human being will need to look at your circumstances, as you do not fall within the criteria laid down on a computer model making the decision.

It doesn't mean that you will not qualify for the mortgage, it means that they will make a decision based on what has come up on the searches.

Speak to your adviser and ask all the questions, as they work for you.

    Ok,

Just managed to speak to her and my partner has arrears (well he did but he has paid them off but there still on file) also has a default against him. So we got turned down.

Am thinking that we should probably give up now really, dont see anyone wanting to take us on with all this, even if he has got rid of them all now.

    Thanks anyway

Thanks for the advice. We have managed to get a mortgage with someone, dont know who yet. But am really relieved now. We have to pay a extra sum, dont know what yet, as we have had to go with an adverse credit company. But at least it gets us on the property ladder and we can relax now. May have to pay extra for 2 years until we can get a proper mortgage company to accept us.

    Thanks again
