I need a little advice.
I went to view a house today which is lovely, unfortunately a number of other people also think it's lovely so there will be numerous applications.
The letting agent has said all the applications have to be in tomorrow then the landlord will look them over and choose who to go with.
The problem is on the application there is a question which reads 'are you bankrupt', strictly speaking I'm no longer bankrupt, it's been 6 years this month so legally my answer is no,however if the landlord where to choose me and then the letting agent did a credit check it will probably show up on my file.
There are at least eight other applications, I think I look good on paper (without disclosing I'm an ex bankrupt) so would have a good chance of being the favoured one.
I know people always advise being upfront but from past experience on the occasion I was upfront I have been rejected and the occasion I didn't mention it they accepted me.
So would I get away with answering no to the question 'are you bankrupt?' As the phrasing of the question is ambiguous, I know they will probably find out later but at least it might get me through the initial sieve.
Any advice would be welcome, thanks.

The phrasing is not ambiguous as it is asking 'are you bankrupt?' and you are not as you were discharged from BR 5 years ago. So you truthfully answer no.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Thanks tigerfeet. Guess I'm just nervous that if I say no and get picked as the lucky tenant it's a bit awkward for me when they do the credit check.
I'll say no and see what happens and worry about it then, just didn't want to give a bad impression.
Thanks for your help0
