An EU citizen living in the UK many, many years, have good credit history, never borrow any money, not own a credit card, have bills on direct debit, never over drawn, etc, etc....but....not never been on electoral register in the UK. Would this affect the mortgage application?
Thinking of asking my friend to go for a joint mortgage but he is not in etectoral roll. would that be an issue when it comes to mortgage application?

I would say it's probably essential for both of you to register to vote, as this is how credit reference agencies verify your name and address.
If you search the forums there are other threads on how long it will take for your name to appear. After that, apply for your £2 Statutory Credit Report from Experian and/or Equifax. One of the report's sections will (hopefully) confirm that you are now on the Roll.
You don't need to be eligible to vote in parliamentary elections (UK, IRL, Commonwealth) to register to vote; all EU citizens may vote in local government elections.0 -
I was not on the electoral roll according to Experian/Yorkshire BC but I voted in May. It seems they use outdated references for their checks as the electoral people confirmed they added me in May.
The BC asked for an addressed bank statement instead for me.Mortgage (Nov 15): £79,950 | Mortgage (May 19): £71,754 | Mortgage (Sep 22): £0

Electoral roll registration is a primary requirement for most lenders. As it's what knits your credit history together. Without this history the lender has little to base it's decision on.0
