Endowment complaint - is it too late to appeal to the Ombudsman?

My girlfriend (now wife) and I took out an endowment (100% managed fund -unit linked ) with the MI Group (now Sanlam) on 2/11/1990 which is due to mature on 2/11/2015 to cover our first mortgage of £45,450 for a premium of £65 /m. As at 15/5/15 their value is £26,785. We complained to the MI Group in Aug 2005, received a letter on 2/11/15 upholding our complaint "based on the information received to date" and a final letter 4/11/05 NOT upholding the complaint stating policy was suitable and due to the fact I was a financial adviser with CIS Ltd "since at least December 2001". I was a student on a year out when the mortgage was taken out (Quantity Surveying) and started with CIS in Nov 1995. I left the industry in 2009.
Thanks in anticipation
