Halifax mortgage process

Hello all,

I have posted on here before but have a bit of an update which I wanted ask about as It seems a bit doffernt to the process's I have read about.

So I have applied for a mortgage with Halifax last Wednesday. I had a call from my brokers pa today to say it has been through the underwriter and was all ok'd now they will arrange for the valuation. Does that sound right? It's just here hear a lot of people worrying until the valuation Is done and also the fact I have not heard of it being done this way before. The broker always said it would be done this way but I guess I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance.

Thanks,
Matt.

be fine, but don't apply for anything as they will check!
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Sounds almost identical to our experience. Our valuation was done last Thursday and offer issued yesterday :)

    For reassurance, trust your broker.

I went through the same thing with Halifax, i wanted to have everything through my bank Natwest but my broker said to go with them. I didn't get my hopes up as i was expecting a decline or lots of delays, problems etc.

My credit rating is perfect and i debt free so i left it with them and 10 days later my broker emails me confirming it all went through and i will be receiving my offer letter in the post. Today I've just sent my 5% deposit and will be exchanging contracts very soon. They really are good and i shouldn't have doubted them

Valuation means you are most likely to be approved pending the valuation. That's further than I have so far with my mortgage process.

  • My friend submitted the full application through Halifax on 5th June , valuation was done on 9th June and the report came all fine in 2 days but still waiting for the Mortgage offer though !! Nearly 2 weeks. Congratulations to Spiritless!! It was very quick for you.
