Relocating & Rent to buy

Ok guys. Quick one to regardes to 'Rent to Buy'...does these schemes still exist?
I found something earlier but it was from 2010 in the area I want to move. I could potentially want to use this scheme purely so the wife can get full time work again and be a joint applicant on mortgage as I am in forces. We know we could rent a normal property until we have 6 months worth of payslips etc then apply but we are kinda sick of moving around, getting settled and moving again...forces life I suppose.
Can any one give advice on such product or any warning signs to look out for?? Also we have 10k deposit so In theory we might not meet their criteria anyway.
TIA

You would need to establish from local housing associations what rent to buy options they have in your selected areas.
Just in case you meant shared ownership, not rent to buy, the same bodies run these schemes too.I am a mortgage broker.
