Nationwide DIP timescale and process

I don't know the process which is normally undertaken at a DIP stage officially but I feel ours is being treated as somewhat of a difficult case and I don't know why. It's been 3 weeks. I guess we was referred at credit check stage (we have had a hard search) and therefore they are checking every detail. It certainly feels like they are looking for reasons to decline! We have no bad credit or issues on file. We have a deposit and have debt to be paid on or before completion. All accounted for and proof available. They have asked and checked every detail and we seem to then go to the back of the queue. I can't help but think we don't meet the tick box process for whatever reasons. we are going via broker and apparently the case has not yet been to an underwriter just the compliance admin team whom collate everything needed. All very odd.

For what is worth, my experience with them was similar.
Took quite long(>6weeks), requested loads of extra documents and were quite fussy overall. However, in the end they did offer me the mortgage. My impression with them is that they are an ok lender and not looking for reason to decline, but they are very thorough.
Hope you get your mortgage, keep chasing daily.

P.S. The back to the queue thing annoyed me as well.

Get your broker to chase them up, that's what they are paid for :-). They have a lot of business and probably got a lot of brokers chasing them up, so if the broker isn't pro-active, then its easy to see how it can fall down the pecking order.
My DIP took a month. Remember underwriting at DIP stage should mean when you have had an offer accepted on a house, then the application will be quicker (no underwriting to do)

Similar story here - make a complaint... we did, it was worth £75 and everything was then done that week.

Underwriting is a thorough process. So yes every box will get ticked. The information requested or questions asked will depend on your personal circumstances and history.

Workflow is managed in queues. Has to be otherwise it would be chaos. NW is the now the largest provider of new business in the UK. So unfortunately they may be delays if they are extremely busy.
