Natwest DiP question

Hello,
I have been reading about Halifax DiPs being 'unreliable' and I was wondering if anyone knows of instances where Natwest have issued a DiP but then declined a full application?
I know a DiP is not a guarantee and is based on limited information. My broker said that as long as we've had no pay day loans (which we haven't) everything should go through fine. I can't help but worry though.
Thanks in advance.
