My debt so far is £2519.40 and I really want it gone for this time next year and by keeping a diary it will give me the momentum to achieve it.
My story so far I had my lightbulb moment in August 2010 when I owed a total of £12605 I was struggling making payments on my wage and I seemed to be living a life of financial stress and I really didn't know what to do about it. It was searching the Internet I found money saving expert and realised that it was not just me struggling and there was a wealth of advice to read through people who had gone through the same. My aim was to be debt free in 5 years but that is going to be so now I'm giving myself a target of 12 months and by doing this diary I hope to achieve it.

11 months to go, Managed to pay £283 off my credit card last month bringing my total down to £2236.40.
My target is to bring the total down to under £2000 for next month. I'm not paying any interest on my card but this runs out in October, ideally I'd like to do a balance transfer again and if I can I hope to get one with a 0% or low balance transfer fee as possible but this is a job for next month.August 2010 debt was £12605

10 months to go, I managed to work overtime at work this month (which is a rarity) so I've managed to smash my target of getting under £2000. Total paid this month is £879.41, this brings my total down £1356.99, it's not been this low for at least 10 years.
Also cancelled now TV subscription and mobile insurance I can live without either until I'm debt free.
Next month I'm taking a holiday so I won't be able to pay off a large amount as much asI would like to, but I've been working on my budget and its very possible I could be debt free on pay day in January. So this is what I'm going to aim for so in September I shall be jumping to 5 months to go.August 2010 debt was £12605

January 2016 is my penultimate month on my debt free journey, I do not want to wish my time away but on 18th Feb I will make my last payment and I'm so looking forward to it. February will be the 67th month since my LBM and with the exception of balance transfer fees the balance has gone down every month even if some months it only been a small amount and I have not used my cc at all in all this time. It's been a struggle and I've had to make sacrifices to get this far but that's the same for everyone on here but it can be done, when I started this journey It seemed such an hard task but with the help and advice that is on this forum becoming debt free is possible.August 2010 debt was £12605

May 2016.
In 33 days time I will be debt free, it's took longer than I had planned due to unforeseen circumstances but I'm almost there now. It will be 71 months in total since I started this journey and the lessons I've learned along the way will remain with me. The last £280 I owe is to a family member the banks were paid off last month and it was a good feeling looking at £0 balance. So for those just starting their journey or those who have been on some time just stick with it and your time will come.August 2010 debt was £12605
