Hello Monday People,
Reasonable start to the day here:
*Did laundry overnight on cheap tariff, all drying outside on the line. Washer loaded for another half-price wash tonight.
*Watered greenhouse & veggie garden. Slugs don't seem to have found our runner bean plants yet, but we do have 2 blackbird families & a hungry hedgehog, so hopefully they are hoovering up all the slugs.
*Picked broad beans & podded them to use tonight.
*Free fitness delivering leaflets for local election this week.
*Wrote each day's job lists into my filofax as I need to achieve quite a lot this week.
*Finish knitting sock - yes, there it is on the list again.......I got side-tracked yesterday chatting with mr f about forthcoming camping trip.......don't know why I didn't knit & yakk at the same time, it's not as if the socks are difficult to knit. Grrr.
*Make packed lunch & work snacks for tomorrow.
*Make sure I get free parking at a meeting I'm at tonight.
*Have been very tough with cat first thing as he wants new food all the time at the moment. As soon as he's slurped the jelly off it, he thinks I'm going to open a new pouch. Well, welcome to the real world, matey, not a chance. It's what's in your bowl or a hungry tummy today, I'm afraid. he's cute & he's funny, but I WILL win.
OK, lunchtime.......for people, not naughty cats.

P.S Hope your back improves Maria.
Bob - It's nice to support things but no-one should feel pressurised to go to everything, so my thoughts on your dilemmas are perhaps give the school social a miss & look for something in a charity shop for the other function. The new reformed me wouldn't buy anything new if I really couldn't afford it. The old naughty me would have stuck 3 garments plus shoes on a credit card, then hardly worn the stuff again, as I like clothes which mix & match lots of stuff & don't really do formal. I'm thinking charity shop dress & see if you can borrow a summery jacket from someone on the grounds that you're not buying clothes until after the bump has arrived?2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Bob - we cross-posted re charity shop outfits. Yes, Sainso's is worth a go. I bought a decent garment in there the other week & if you are lucky, they may even have one of their fairly frequent 25% off clothing weeks. They had some quite nice stuff in there & you can get some nectar points too.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Bob, I'd go ebay or charity shop for the clothes and then whack it on ebay straight after to try to recoup the money.
It's looking like my current energy supplier is going to be the cheapest but, BUT, BUT....
I am a whopping £545 in credit with them with the summer months ahead of us still :T
I need to buy a key to get an accurate gas reading before I decide for sure to stay with them but I'm on their standard tariff at the moment so moving to a 'deal' will save me some money and I will be asking for a rebate pretty damned sharpish!
I'm not sure whether to use it to reduce the overdraft or to sweep it straight into the emergency savings account (out of sight, out of mind) and then, with the £400 already in there I will have enough for a mortgage payment later in the year if necessary with a bit left over for other bills too.
The cheapest car insurance I could find that would let me add my son is £58 per month as opposed to the £26 I currently pay but an extra lesson per week would cost me £100 per month. I will bite the bullet and do it but I'm putting it off as long as I can! The £500 energy overpayment certainly makes it more palatable.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

FVD - Thanks for the clothing advice.
One word of advice on your rebate. Check check and check again it's real. Mine issued me a £350 rebate last August and we've been paying for it ever since. Literally. Even though I'd been giving meter readings via their online app some how my gas was wrong. And they made us up our DD from £58 to £105 to claw it back. Which has messed up our monthly budget ever since. I truly hope yours is real as that is amazing!" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Thanks Foxgloves. Unfortunately I am the class rep. It will look really bad if I'm not there. I hear you and agree that I really shouldn't feel I have to go but....." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Evening everybody. I'm still in work but wanted to say hello

Bob - I also give charity shops a thumbs up. I have lots of dresses that I've bought from them. Most recent was a Jane Norman one, still with the tags on for £4.99! I recommend finding a charity shop near lots of offices because people drop stuff off on their lunch break and it tends to be nicer stuff.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Hi Carrie
Hope you don't stay too much later!
Thanks for the advice. For the christening I have got a lot more time so will try and have a nose one weekend.
Today was good. I picked up a 3rd party booking for July this afternoon. So pleased. I've also pitched for a baby shower that I saw someone talking about on a local forum. Anything solid and booked in advance is great for cash flow predicting. Horray!!
Made a lovely curry for dinner that was mainly veg but with the meat from 4 chicken drumsticks & a basics curry sauce. We both really enjoyed it.
Night all
