Just wondering what folks interviews with the Official Receiver was like in the past year. I have mine next week. Bit nervous. Wondering what they will say, how they will treat me. How my debts will be considered. I took a lot of my debts in a very short period of time. It was just so easy to get credit. I got one considerable loan over my Mobile at a train station!
My SOA I think I will get an IPA hopefully it's not the same repayments as my IVA as that was the reason I went BR in the first place. I am expecting a baby in September so my figures reflect this. We had nothing prepared for the new arrival!
Thanks for listening/reading I expect a lot of people feel like this and this is what this forum is known for. Understanding!

After my initial conversation with the examiner (the 10 minute chat after you've gone bankrupt), I was rather nervous about the interview but I think I got my examiner on a bad day for the first chat!
The interview was fine, the examiner didn't judge me at all. When it came to my debts the examiner asked what they were taken out for and that was it. There was no judging or anything like that, it's not really their job to judge you.
Went through my SOA, said there would be an IPA and would let me know the amount soon. About a week later I think I got a call saying how much it would be and that she had made some adjustments to my SOA (things I'd not thought of!) and asked if I was happy with the amount, I said yes and she sent me the agreement to sign.
It's really not that bad

Mine was fine too. The day after my BR, he phoned & I thought it would be the quick chat but it was a 15 min (or less) phone call & job done. Didn't hear from him again. My case was very simple though. He wasn't judgemental at all, just asked a few questions about how the debt occurred.
Don't be tempted to waffle to fill silences, the OR will be taking notes. Make sure you can sit comfortably & have a drink, pen & paper with you. Just so you can be comfortable whilst you are talking, if it does take a while.
You will be fine, I'm sure!SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65

They are there to do a job, not to be judgemental or nasty. They need to establish why you are going bankrupt, and the circumstances (I believe they need to write a report). They need to be satisfied there isn't anything dodgy going on etc.
I haven't been made bankrupt but I'm sure they deal with hundreds or thousands of people so it's just a run of the mill thing for them( I appreciate though it's not something you do every day though). Hopefully yours will be a straightforward case and they have got most of the information from your bankruptcy petition, they might just want a few extra details or just to clarify things or they might want to go through it all, just to make sure they haven't missed anything.
I'm sure it will go smoothly and you'll be back here to say it was fine.

Hi
I found that they were very matter of fact and non-judgemental. They did talk about things like Bankruptcy Restriction Orders and extensions to the BR period, and at the time I thought they were considering this for me. Afterwards I realised that the were just telling me how it all worked in relation to disposal of assets prior to BR etc (I'd got married 4 months before, and even though my mum had paid for most things I still worried it might go against me in BR).
Just be honest and don't judge yourself (the OR won't). And try not to talk too much, just answer what they've asked. It'll be over before you know it.

Mine could not have gone any better. I spoke to a very friendly woman who was very down to earth and was quite sympathetic.
I was on the phone for about 2 hours, only probably an hour of that was about my circumstances/debts/situation, the other hour was just a casual chat about my job, the insolvency service, her job there etc.
It wasn't bad at all, I think I was quite lucky.0
