My BR came off my file at the start of the month so I phoned the bank about upgrading my account from a cash account to a normal account and it had been declined as there systems say I'm still a high risk

Untill it is off your credit file in 5 years time you will struggle to get a 'normal' account.
If you have a Barclays Cash account then they will reinstate online and phone banking now.
You also may be able to open a Co-op Cashminder account as well if you haven't got one.
Yorkshire Building Society will off you an online savings account as well. Also think about joining a Credit Union. Google CU and your town and or county to find your nearest one.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Has been six years since I was declared BR so it now off my credit file0 -
As an ex bankrupt the best advice I can give is to obtain your credit file from the 3 credit reference agencies. Don't sign up to any pay monthly access stuff just obtain your statutory credit file which costs £2 from each provider, Experian / Equifax / Call Credit.
Then go through them with a fine tooth comb. Check everything including associations. (People you are financially connected to). If anything is no longer valid or wrong then go through their correction procedures to request the correction.
You'll be amazed at what you will find!
Also check you are on the electoral role.
There's a guide on this forum somewhere about repairing your credit file after bankruptcy - follow the steps and see how you get on.
Its also worth noting the 'Hunter's report' - basically a list of all bankruptcies ever ( list does not delete after 6 years) I'm not sure if banks use this or not but its worth knowing about.0 -
Sorry was posting in a hurry and with 3 kids mithering at me and read it as you had just been BR the year.
Vinny's advice is the one to follow. Make sure your CRF's are squeaky clean and follow the clean up sticky. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/677875BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
