Compression stockings - source

My GP has prescrived me compression stockings - I suffer from swollen calfs - however - he has assumed that I want standard NHS style items - from Boots (I do normally get my drugs from Boots)
I am assuming that, if I have a prescription - I am entitled to use any supplier (such as DAYLONG) in order to get better quality items ?
Is there any restriction on cost - as long as I get the correct "strength" ?

What exactly does your prescription say? If he has specified a brand then that must be prescibed. If he has not then you can use whichever supplier you wish, and they will decide which brand to supply.
Have you spoken to the pharmacist in Boots, do you know which brand/ supplier they use?0 -

No not yet - they are being ordered in for me for next week !!
They supposedly cost me 2* prescription charges - ie) £16 for a pair0 -

They do indeed, it may be cheaper to buy them yourself.
In future speak to the pharmacist when you give your script in, you can even ring round a few, they can tell you which brands they are able to offer. You can also ask that your GP specifies a brand, although if you want a more expensive one there will need to be a clinical reason for this.

I have just set up a PPC so further costs to myself are irrelevant !!0
