Mortgage application headache - Golden Tips?

Hi,
I'm hoping somebody may be able to give some advice, or some tips for getting this done and dusted.
My partner and I have applied for a mortgage through London & Country and Nationwide. There has has been some really bad practice on L&C's part, and they have been forgetting to forward documentation to Nationwide.
A month has now passed since we had an offer accepted on the house we want to purchase and we have only just got the documents from L&C to Nationwide. Due to our circumstances (partner has just completed her teacher training and starts her work in September), all our documentation needs a human decision made on it.
We have been told that we will need to wait another four days for the final documents to be evaluated, another nine days until we are told whether it is successful, two weeks longer to find out the results of the survey and get the final offer.
Our solicitors have been instructed and are working on the searches.
Is there a way to speed up Nationwide with this? Does anybody have any golden tips to get this horrible mortgage stuff done and dusted. We have been so speedy at getting back to everybody and it seems like a never-ending wait.
Next time, I would cut out the broker entirely.
Thanks

Or next time use a paid broker
fee free stack them high to get enough commission.
So Glad I didn't go for L+C."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Are there any brokers that could push it through faster than our current standing?
Yes, your suggestion sounds better actually! Next time, decent broker!0 -

This kind of !!!!! simply does not exist in the real world.
Shame on MSE for polluting the internets with this sort of crap.0 -

if Nationwide have everything, then not sure what a new broker could do, save maybe involve the Business Manager to prioritise it0

Thanks. Is that on the nationwide side? What's the best way to do this?I mean that your 'story' does not fit in with any kind of real world scenario.
BTW, what's your occupation?
I'm a teacher.0 -

Perhaps the broker has delayed sending to case to Nationwide in order for it to meet criteria.
Nationwide like to be within 3 months of start date for job changes.
Either:
The broker missed this and it has held the case up and you are being bluffed
Or
They noticed this and but have not communicated the position to you very well
Another Lender may have taken the case immediately. This is a classic complication for teachers in the summer months.I am a Mortgage Broker
