Closing catalogue accounts

Is it possible to close a catalogue account and just pay off the balance like you can with a credit card? I know it is easy to say don't spend on it, but sometimes the temptation is there. Or if this is not possible, can you ask the company to reduce your credit limit or will this have other negative consequences.

I know how you feel, I have battled with the catalogue temptations for years.
You can see from my signature how much I have paid off on Littlewoods & Next since January 2014
They won't close the account down whilst there is still money owed on the account, but if you call them up they can reduce your credit limit down to exactly what is currently owed, therefore preventing you spending anymore money with them.
You have to break the cycle. I just finally had enough and hated them so much that I vowed to NEVER EVER use them again.
Their items are so expensive, but the lure to not pay now is really high.
Get angry and vow to never touch them again. xxx0
