The amount of panels is largely irrelevant, its what the KWH rating of the system is.

As a comparison my 4Kwh system (16 LG Black Panels) which included an iboost (immersion diverter) and Geo monitor cost £5600 this time last year.

    Hi Jimlad,

Thank you very much for your reply. That sounds like an excellent price! Could you let me know which company installed the system for you? Thank you very much.

I had a 4kW seraphim + solis 3.6 inverter for £4,500 on special offer. This is no longer available sorry! I did end up with a different system but a similar price.

So i suspect anywhere between 4.5k and 5k for such a system is probably very good going.

I recommend you call up to 5 companies and ask for their best quotes.

If you can get a 4kW system for 5k then i think you have done well, anything below is excellent and achievable with patience.

    Dont rush into any decisions
Don't be pressured to take a deal
Do your research on the company
Check out the forum FAQ here
Consider the system design by checking shading on your roof at different times of the day
Wait to get all your desktop quotes in before you make a decision
Judge each company on their assertiveness and details provided
Check all companies are providing similar generation and feed in payment figures.

A couple of questions for you -

    1. You have been quoted 14,15 and 16 panel set-ups - is this because you are limited on roof space and cannot fit 16 standard 250w panels?

    2. You have been quoted micro inverters and a standard inverter - do you have any shading issues to need micro inverters?

    Hope this helps?

I'm sorry but I still think that's a high price to pay.

I'm guessing that you're trying to beat the next FiT drop but if you don't answer the questions put to you above, particularly about space and shading then you may find that the price you're paying may increase upon survey!! Either that, especially with shading, you may end up with a system that may continually underperform.....your call!?

Please take your time and make sure that the system you get is right for your property - the FIT is only dropping slightly from 1st of July.
