You sir, are a bankrupt

Well I did it. Went to Liverpool Family Court last week. Handed over my forms and fee. Waited around 2 hours. Saw the Judge and she declared me bankrupt. Had a quick call from the OR in Blackpool as they are handling my forms and they said they will be in touch.

Quick and pain-free. Still no word on the interview yet. And still getting creditors chasing me. I shall ignore the letters as I am sure the OR will inform them. My Co-op bank account is safe as I have already spoke to them.

51 weeks to go!

  • Congrats!

OR has up to 8wks to contact creditors and inform them...if they are being a pain tell them of your bankruptcy give them court details and tell them OR will be in touch..

Got a letter through today. My interview with the OR is week on Monday. I'm dreading it now. Will she pick apart my soa and insist I don't pay so much for this or so much for that.

I have heard nice stories about them helping you where they think you are low. but for every 15 good ones there seems to be an OR that is a complete 'mare!

Also been assured from various sources that it's 99% certain they won't take an interest in my Wife's house where I am living as she is the deed holder, pays all the mortgage and I have only been here two years. But what if it's the 1% where they think I have a beneficial interest.

So many worries. Guess I will have to just sit it out till I speak to them.

I had lived with my hubby for 7 years (his property before we met) but hadn't paid towards any mortgage or upkeep. I only paid half the utility bills. My OR said there was no BI..... however others have different stories as you say....
    Good luck anyway
