alive Fire Crackers - How to dispose??

I have got few fire crackers (bought last year nov) that I want to dispose..

I will be moving home soon and want to get all the extra rubbish piled up since long..

I have donated few of the things to local charity... some other things at recycling points.. but not sure how can I get rid of those fire crackers.. I am not very comfortable in putting them off in usual bins...as they may cause some problems while council carrying and dumping them somewhere..

Any ideas?

If my memory serves me right it's actually an offence to dispose of fireworks with household rubbish as they are categorised as explosives, a quick call to your local firestation should help and they will most likely take them off your hands for you if you deliver them. Failing that any specialist waste disposal company may also take them off your hands as they should be disposed of under licence.
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.

I will call my fire station for this... do they charge for this service?
  • This is pretty easy, you can either:

    a) Set them off

    b) Soak them in water for a few hours then they will be safe and will probably fall apart. You could probably wash the powder inside down the drain (better check this is ok though)

They will probably most likely be sympathetic to your plight be happy to know they are not being disposed of irresponsibly. I doubt they would levy any charge.
