  • I had MBNA they took little convincing but then agreed and i never got any phone calls through agreement. (they also returned my charges when i simply asked for my statements!)
Capital One they have been very good, they review my account every six months. I just send another letter saying i am still in financial difficulties. they have not charged me any interest for over a year and no hassle.
Royal Bank Of Scotland agreed straight away but this was a small amount owed.

I do think it also depends how much you owe. As long as you stick to your agreement. Others may have had very different experiences.

    Good luck

thankyou for reply , kind reassuring words, did you do it yourself or go through a company? i owe mbna about 7k rbs 1880 capital one 3300 , do you think i will get much hassle?
  • I didn't owe quite as much as you on MBNA and RBS but about the same on capital one. I didn't get much hassle at all. Not sure if i was just lucky. I went to CAB they did me a budget plan and a letter to send each company. I then posted them and waited for the replies, that was hard waiting for the letters to come in. Whilst i was waiting i continued to pay the amount set out in the plan. The most difficult companies i found were Littlewoods and GE money. If they phoned i just said that i could not discuss it on the phone as i needed everything in writing to take to CAB. I then sent a letter to support this is they continued, I think i was quite fortunate they stopped. GE money is my biggest debt and i find the most difficult, but again i refuse to speak to them on the phone and do everything in writing.
Good luck, i do find on here everyone appears to have different experiences.

For the first year £36 pound then when i paid some of the little ones off i now pay £40. It started a year gone May i still have about £1700 left.

the amount was worked out by CAB they work out percentage to each debt. Every six months they send letter saying to phone them my agreement is coming to an end. Each time i send a letter stating my situation has not changed. After the first six months i offered them £40 as i had paid some debts off they were happy with this. But the last time due to interest rates increasing on my mortgage what little i had from paying others off went on this. They were very understanding and left it at the £40. It is now again up for review i have just sent another letter off and waiting for the reply. But they have not phoned me once in the last 12 months. Which is very good as this is what stresses me out. They do say that if you stick to the agreement with them and keep them informed then they are happy to help. that is my personal experience of them.
