Newly qualified accountant / extra income ideas?

Hey,

I've recently qualified as an accountant after nearly 4 years in industry. My fianc!e and I want to buy a house so I'm looking for ways to get some extra income in my evenings and weekends to save towards a deposit.

I'd like to use my 'professional skills' if possible but having looked at the 'part time practice' option the work involved with serving clients, responding to phonecalls through the day etc is impractical for me given that I have a full time job (that I don't want to leave).

Does anyone have any tips or advice on other avenues I could take to boost my income? I live and work in central London if that is relevant. Any tips of advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Adam

Can you do basic book keeping as well, if so offer your services as a book keeper to small local services. The work is infrequent if you choose the right sort of business and as long as you train your clients to only call you in the evenings it should work out fine.

  • Bookkeeping and/or look at the people per hour website - rates tend to be very competitive though. Or have you met any other accountants through networking perhaps they could do with some ad hoc help. You need to be careful what you are doing though because certain qualifications only allow you to do basic bookkeeping, payroll and VAT if you don't have a practising certificate.
