SoA comments please?

Posting my SoA for comments and advice please as my BR date is 23rd. I'm a bit confused as my household consists of myself and my partner plus two housemates (all adults). We all contribute towards rent, bills and council tax but housekeeping is for 2 of us as the others buy their own. I feel like this makes my SoA confusing as some costs are for the whole household, (rent, gas, etc), others are for myself and partner (housekeeping, dentist, clothing). I've filled the below in with full household costs for bills etc., but just mine and my partners costs for everything else. Please advise me if this is not how it should be done.

My income: .......................................697
Other household contributions............1517
Total household income......................2207

Rent..................................................1450
Housekeeping....................................240
Gas/electric/heating............................125
Water.................................................26
Telephone...........................................33
Travel.................................................20
Clothing..............................................10
Maintenance/fines................................0
Council tax.........................................184
Dentist...............................................5
Optician.............................................5
Prescriptions......................................8
Hairdressing.......................................8
Professional body membership...........1
Pets...................................................25
Holidays............................................5
University costs..................................5

Total.................................................2150

I am a full time student so I am not expecting an IPA but still want to ensure these figures are correct. I have read in previous posts about ensuring you've allowed yourself reasonable allowances for each of these things so you aren't selling yourself short. I feel a lot of these figures are quite low but our income is very low so we are living on the breadline regardless. If I put higher food allowances it would surely just show a large deficit? Please advise!

  • Also would I put my partner as being dependent on me when I list the household members? I guess we are financially dependent on each other but is that what this is asking? So many questions!

Put it down as you and your partner, with your income and his contribution to the joint household income. Then put exactly what your share of the whole household bills are and what you spend on the things you and your partner buy ie: food. You don't need to show what the others are paying.

Then in Section 13 where you have a chance to explain things you tell the OR what the house set up is.

    Hope that makes sense.

Thank you, that make things much clearer! Here is my new version ignoring the other housemates and including only mine and my partner's share of the household bills.

The below is for 2 adults:

    My income: .......................................697
    Other household contributions............532
    Total household income......................1229

    Rent...................................................650
    Housekeeping....................................240

    Water.................................................13
    Telephone...........................................23
    Travel.................................................20
    Clothing..............................................10
    Maintenance/fines................................0
    Council tax..........................................92

    Hairdressing........................................8
    Professional body membership............1
    Pets...................................................25
    Holidays.............................................20
    University costs...................................5

    Total...................................................1198

    Does this look alright?

    YEP, and your food costs!
Although you are right to show a partners 'contribution' - what is your partners actual income?
Based on what you have shown so far you should not be presented with an IPA, and should not sign if you were.

Hi income is about £950 a month after tax. I've put his contributions as the amount he pays towards bills but should I simply half our total outgoings as I guess he would actually be buying his own clothing and prescriptions, etc.?

We have a system where he pays a larger share of the rent and I buy all the food/cleaning/pet stuff but I guess it probably averages out that we pay 50% each of everything so should I just half the total outgoings and make that his contribution?

His contribution as it is is fine. Just lose that 20gbp in the areas suggested. You don't need to do anything else.

The OR may ask what his income is and you can just show him his pay slips but with the amount he contributes you will be fine.
