It's only available 12.30 - 4.30 so four hours
Large tanks have 3 elements of 9KW so can store 36 KWh a night
No reason a 1 ton 2 X 9KW element tank couldn't be produced for affordable prices
That would be big and powerful enough to store 72KWh a night @5p a unit
I think such a set up would be cheaper than oil when oil prices are above 45p a litre
There are hundreds of thousands of oil fired homes that could be converted to affordable off peak electricity
18kw = about 80A continuous - gonna put a lot of strain on your wiring even before you charge the ev, run the dishwasher and washing machine etc which will blow the 100A main fuse.
Also 1000l x 50 degree temp rise = 60kwh and you wouldn't want the water to go below 45C to be useful for heating and bathing so you need a bigger tank to store 72kwh.I think....0 -

Take the post on Big Oil lobbying in Europe a couple of days ago. In 2018 one trade union spent 7 times what ExxonMobil spent lobbying the EU yet the article implies the Oil companies are the big bad lobbyists. The source was a PV trade magazine - objective or spinning?
You haven't demonstrated that at all. As I pointed out ExxonMobil also contribute to at least one other huge lobbying organisation. It's a massively simplistic take on a massively complex and famously intractable question.
It also assumes that the register covers all lobbying in the EU. Which I don't believe it does. Given all that your continued claim that this is true looks like partisan posturing rather than a search for clarity.8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.0 -

I wasn’t searching for clarity although I am sure you can provide the exact figures. I was simply pointing out that oil companies are not the only big lobbyists.
If lobbying is such a complex and intractable question maybe it is best left off the forum as nothing reported can be guaranteed to be true.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -

I'm not here to do your googling for you. However I did find this report where someone has put in a bit more effort than you.

I can do my own googling, thank you.
Your objective source:

So, they investigate lobbying. Damn am I good or what?8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.0

”Part 4 of our week-long electric vehicle (EV) series goes behind scenes with the UK scientists working on transformative EV battery technologies.l
“Although lithium-ion batteries will play an integral role in the future automotive industry, concerns around their range, safety and durability means scientists are having to get creative for the electric vehicles of the future.
At UCL, where Brett is leading the innovation charge, a host of batteries are being tested. One emerging contender is solid-state batteries.
But not all eggs are being put in the solid-state basket. Universities such as UCL are also turning to technology such as sodium-based and lithium-sulphur batteries.
Johnson Matthey has made its biggest single investment to develop “enhanced lithium nickel oxide” – or eLNO - a material used to make the cathode in a battery. It is the main limiting factor in a battery’s performance.......while the cathode is only a small physical part of the battery cell, it accounts for 40pc of the cost. ”

Nice little vid here on national CO2 emissions over time, quite fun to watch. Spoiler alert, the UK holds the lead till 1911, and second place till the 1970's. China makes a late comeback and closes at approx half of the US.
What Countries Are Most Responsible For Global Warming?Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
