The bids have a lot of hidden subsidy
Intermittent supply should have to build (or buy an existing) a thermal generator so as to be able to demand follow which is critical
Irrespective, this isn't news, isn't there a better thread for theoretical policy posturing?8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.0 -
Which is why Hydro needs to do the same, some Dams can only provide 50% of their peak capacity over time. And why nuclear can't be used as it has little to no ability to scale up or down.

Without storage, nuclear is too expensive as it can't load follow, and simply ramping down is a waste of money* (same costs, less generation). But if you add storage, then you remove the need for nuclear in the first place as you reinforce cheaper RE. So we have a Catch 22 for expensive, slow and unpopular nuclear.
*EDF's EPR can ramp down to 60%, but, presumably for economic reasons, the design configuration docs state it won't. See page 7.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

He's doing it deliberately to disrupt this thread. He posts off-topic and he does multiple posts (three or more in a row) in order to break up the flow discussion about Green and Ethical Issues in the News for the other forum members.
I can't begin to guess at his motivations for doing this. Some of the other members think he does it because he's a mouth piece for fossil fuel companies. However, I doubt it'd be worth anyone's while to post FF propaganda on a tiny board hidden away at the bottom of MSE. Personally I think he didn't get enough hugs as a child and so this is just classic attention seeking behaviour.
It's a shame as he's ruining the board for those of us who want to take about Green, ethical, energy issues in the news (last 2 weeks). Incidentally, the "(last two weeks)" was inserted into the title by the board moderators because of this poster taking us off topic previously. Clearly this hasn't worked and perhaps it's time for them to take more stringent steps?5.18 kWp PV systems (3.68 E/W & 1.5 E).

Let’s not jump to conclusions. There may be a logical explanation for this. I am unable to use the multi quote facility. I don’t know why but possibly because I use a tablet not a pc. If I want to make comments on several points raised in the same post I need to do separate posts to address them individually.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -

Personally I don’t think this type of personal comment should be made on here. It brings the forum into disrepute. The very fact we post daily on forums suggests most of us may have some kind of personality disorder which in this age of identity politics and virtue signalling should be supported and cherished.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -

A discussion thread about on-topic issues in the news (last 2 weeks) is, in my mind, fair game for someone saying "no that won't work for reason X", and someone else replying, "but reason X is irrelevant, perhaps Y would work".... it is not fair game for dozens upon dozens of posts apparently trying to push forward some scheme that has never been in the news, never suggested in the news, never mentioned in the news.7.25 kWp PV system (4.1kW WSW & 3.15kW ENE), Solis inverter, myenergi eddi & harvi for energy diversion to immersion heater. myenergi hub for Virtual Power Plant demand-side response trial.0 -

Surely forums are all about alternative points of view. Listening to alternative ideas (which some consider to be saying things that should not be said) is how society progresses.
Should we just all pat ourselves on the back and say how wonderful our shared views are and ridicule as an individual anyone who has a different idea?Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -
Yes, but most likely if you made specific responses to three different posts raised in the same thread, that would not be seen as disruptive. The issue with the poster under discussion is that they post essentially the same thing three times in this thread, then three or more times in one or more other threads. Then three or more times in this thread again. It doesn't even seem to be copying and pasting, it seems to be just frantically typing out some phrases or ideas that they have taken a liking to, over and over again, with small changes as they add new ideas or aspects that occur to them.

I wouldn’t disagree with that. Some threads have gone on and on and my response has been to stop reading them after a while. (Apparently it is possible to put someone on “ignore” but it seems to me the people who say they have done that are the ones most frequently making comments about the contributor they are ignoring - so that isn’t working too well.)Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -
The use of multiple user ids by the same poster is also frustrating. Again, something I really don’t understand the point of, especially on a small forum of friendly like-minded people.5.18 kWp PV systems (3.68 E/W & 1.5 E).

I agree and just because some ideas don't stand up to scrutiny doesn't mean we should consider the implications. Group think is dangerous too.I think....0
