Haha, I know exactly what you mean. After making my grand statement, it took me a good 10 mins of searching about to discover how to actually put someone on ignore5.18 kWp PV systems (3.68 E/W & 1.5 E).

Florida is looking to go big on batteries, with a planned monster of 409MW/900MWh by 2021, which will support PV and help to displace two gas generating plants.
Sadly Florida, and several neighbouring States have little to no wind generation (but decent wind resources). In the US there's a close match between wind deployments and having renewables targets/aspirations, but they are getting there slowly. In fact getting there fast(ish) as RE economics start to beat FF economics.

Only last week I saw an article (can't remember where) which showed there was a pretty close correlation between wind resources and wind generation, so that the situation probably isn't as bad as you suggest.
Florida et al are installing more appropriate PV: probably not as much as they could, but hopefully Mar a Lago going underwater will help!0 -

Here's an article on it, you'll see that the south eastern states have little wind capacity, and whilst they do have less wind resource, other similar states have deployed wind, so as the article goes on it shows which states have 'Renewable Portfolio Standards' and lo and behold, the south eastern states are poor in this regard.
So it seems, if policies don't support RE as much, you get less, and therefore disparities based on local politics, which is a shame.

Had to post this as it's such a brilliant headline.
For background, this week Trump gave a presentation and at it he said that living near wind mills gives you cancer, and knocks 75% off the value of your home, and the ground around them is littered with dead birds. Cue ......
Wind Turbines Don’t Cause Cancer, But They Are Absolutely Killing Coal

.....perhaps we should have another thread called "Green, ethical, energy issues in the fake news"?0

He he.
On the plus side, sometimes the negative news shows that a subject is getting under someones skin. The Ghandi (or not) quote is quite good:
First they ignore you.
Then they laugh at you.
Then they fight you.
Then you win.
Trump seems to be at stages 2 & 3, and in response to the growing demand in the US that AGW be treated seriously, and the good press that the Green New Deal is getting.
If he's talking about it, then he's worried, and that's a good thing.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

Anything you can do, I can do better!
GE Renewable Energy Secures First Order For Its Largest Onshore Turbine
I'll see your 5.3MW and raise you 0.5MW
Siemens Gamesa Unveils New 5.8 Megawatt Onshore Wind Turbine
And just to be clear, these are on-shore, not off-shore WT's. Blimey, the monster near me is 2.3MW's and you can see it from most of coastal Cardiff and Penarth.
Think I'll start a campaign for some of these giants to be installed in Cardiff. Just need a good, simple and clear slogan, how about "Marty wants a big one"?Mart. Ohhhhh burn!
So much burn, he's going to need sunscreen:
Skyscrapers are killing up to 1bn birds a year in US, scientists estimate
Trump suggested little crosses should be placed on the ground around WT's, so I can see a possible campaign growing in the US around his Trump properties. Not a funny subject matter, but the irony overload is off the chart, it's got to a Spinal Tap 11, at least.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage.
