Hope someone can help. Bought a really nice wooden/stainless steel cutlery set from Ikea. However I would like to remove the "Ikea - Made in China" (!) label/emblem on the blade. Any ideas?
P.s A bit sneaky from them - they turn the knives upside down in the presentation box so you only see it when you get home! Not being snobbish etc bout Ikea - just the "Made in China" bit looks really naff on a very nice wooden cutlery set.

Use a wire wool scouring pad, in the direction of the "grain" of the metal? The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

never tried it but nail varnish remover can get rid of a lot of things, might be worth a try?Wiggly:heartpulsFB0

Try this older thread - sticky gluey labels. 100 replies, so should be something in there.
IMHO, I wouldn't try the scouring pad method - you're bound to scratch them permanently.

I don't think it is to be sneaky... my OH turned all my knives upside down in the block when I moved in and unpacked all my stuff. I asked why - he said it is so they are not resting on the sharpened bit and they don't get blunt. Good idea I thought!!
Not a criticism, I'm just really intrigued... why do you want to remove the writing?

Newgirl, the knives were lying on their side in the box, with the blank side of the blade facing upwards -the "Made in China" was facing downwards so you couldn't see it - nothing to do with keeping the blades sharp.
Anyway thanks for all the replies, tried the nailpolish remover and looked at the post about removing labels but no luck yet! Also don't think trying to scour it off would be a good idea as it will scratch the blade. Maybe I'll just have to live with it.... Anybody want some nice Ikea cutlery?????0
