Follow, RT and Reply (Twitter)

Ok for the past year if a twitter competition asks to follow them, RT the competition and reply (with an answer or statement) I've done the first two and then sent a separate tweet replying to their tweet.
However I've noticed if there is enough characters left you can quote the RT plus your answer.

Am I right doing the first or does anybody do the second (quote Tweet and answer together)

I would usually hit the RT button, and then post a reply with an answer, I wouldn't combine the two as I don't think they would necessarily read the RT's, they'd just see the names that have RT'd.

I'd hit the RT, then use a hashtag and then just reply with the reply button.

DONT QUOTE RT. (or at least I never have done)

I've won countless things on twitter just hitting the RT button. I ALWAYS send a message, like "this is brill… etc…" with the hashtag. I think the more you do the more popular you are, the more likely you are to be chosen.

And the more manual tweets the more followers you get
