Pension start date question

HI - I am due to reach retirement age on 11th April 2016 but I wont get my state pension until July 6th - can anyone explain the gap please? Thank you

If your birth date is 11 April 1953 then you don't reach SPA until 6 July 2016.

A female with dob 11/4/1953 is not due to reach state pension age till 6th July 2016 so that is your "retirement age" - ie it's 63 years 2 months 25 days.
What made you think it was exactly age 63?0 -
