Tax on pension

You should automatically get put on the correct tax code within 2 months.
One would hope so but it's HMRC we're talking about.
When I commenced my pension, first month was emergency tax code as expected. Then looking online I noticed that HMRC had issued a D0 tax code for the next month which would have seen all my pension taxed at 40%.
Had to phone to sort it out before the pension provider got a chance to use it. This was without the state pension being involved.0
