Plastic-Free Kettle found cheaply!

I've been on the hunt for an affordable cordless electric kettle that has a concealed element and no plastic parts touching the water. All of the stainless steel kettles I had found so far had a plastic resovoir to show the level of the water inside or were way beyond my budget.
I went in to ASDA today on an unrelated search and found their basic steel kettle for £10 has a concealed element and no plastic touching the water. The removeable scale filter on the spout does have a bit of plastic on it, but it is easily taken off.
The more expensive £15 ASDA kettle has the plastic part showing the water level but looks very similar, so if you are looking for plastic free, make sure you don't accidently get that one.

I'm curious, what is the aversion to plastic?
I have personally found plastic kettles, particularly those with the windows to see the water levels are more prone over time to spring leaks. I suppose because the differing thermal expansion of the different materials eventually broke them apart. Concealed elements also unfortunately tend to be shorter lasting than the coiled elements.0 -
Heating up the plastic in the kettle releases dangerous chemicals into the water. I am trying to eliminate as much plastic from my life as possible.

That's interesting. I really don't know if kettles leach anything bad, but I've never liked the taste of plastic kettles, so all metal is good. Mine is all metal with a copper body and chrome plated element.0
