Halifax Processing Team

Hi

Wondering whether anyone can help. I am employed by a large global bank and my guaranteed package includes several elements such as a car allowance. My payslips bundle this up into one line item (ie. allowances are not broken down into what they are) and my employer provides financial references that are also not broken down.

I have provided Halifax with 3 months payslips and they also requested an employers reference, for which my bank provided.

The Halifax processing team have come back and said they cannot accept the allowances as it is not broken down into explicit line items, hence they want to class it as unsustainable and therefore it won't be part of the affordability calculation.

I am miffed to say the least and this makes no sense to me. They are behaving as if they have never seen a payslip from my employer, which I find hard to believe given I work for a large global bank.

Has anyone had such an issue and have advice as to how to overcome?

Thanks

  • By no means unusual that banks turn out documents that they would not accept themselves as supporting docs !! How about your contract of employment and benefits appendix/handbook ?

  • Issue is they want something direct from the bank, and my bank have sent them all they are able to send.

I also sent Halifax my Annual Statement showing the breakdown, but they were not interested as it came from me.
  • So despite providing 3 payslips and an employers reference, Halifax are telling me they still need further proof that the income is sustainable.

What more can myself or employer provide?

We had a recently similar case with nine lines of incomes and deductions on the payslips relating to an Employee Car Ownership scheme.

After a lot of work we finally got the best options in terms of affordability from two lenders, the others were keen to ignore the allowances whilst factoring in the deductions.

One of those Lenders was, you've guessed it Halifax.

Of course each case is different which is why we brokers are able to making a living.
