Delays in NHS response to retrospective care claim

Hello
I'm not sure which forum I should ask this question so I will just outline it here and hopefully someone can re-direct me if I'm in the wrong place!
I lodged a claim for NHS Retrospective Care on 6th October 2012. That first claim was rejected but after an appeal a review was carried out and the result was positive, the letter I received was dated 21st January 2014 informing me that a clinical review of the checklist. My claim, it said, was being passed to another health authority. Since then the process has ground to a halt. I receive monthly updates from the reviewing health authority. But these say the same thing every month that they are trying to obtain care home records, GP, hospital and social care records. Frankly they could say the same thing forever. What can I do? Is there an ombudsman I can complain to?
Thanks

Thanks xylophone. I haven't tried my MP. I was hoping there'd be an independent complaints body, like an ombudsman. I will take a look at the link you posted.0
