A pound of muscle weights the exact same as a pound of fat but is denser so you look smaller. Muscle speeds the metabolism and gives definition ('toned' or 'ripped')

Exactly, I do cross training, I've lost inches in some places, gained it in others through muscle. I'm leaner and deff stronger / fitter than I was before I started but I have gained about a stone in weight because of the muscle density.

Evening meal - Use brown/wholegrain rice if you can, bulk it out with green vegetables. Avoid potatoes this late in the day.
Why? Potatoes don't magically turn to fat if you eat the after 6pm. The only reason to avoid eating any foods later in the day is if they give you indigestion.

I eat 1250 cals a day, wlk 12, 000 steps, do 200 cals on cross trainer. With my weight and height I expend the calories to lose 2.5lb a week, in theory. I couldn't reduce intake any more than that nor would I want to.

I'm finding it really easy now for the first time in my life, I think that's because I understand weight loss more.
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door

Let me solve all your concerns. The single most important factor in weight loss or gain is calories in, versus calories out.
