IS - HES guidance figures

Hey guys,
I went BR on 11th MAY, when I had tmy interview with the OR she knocked me down on food expenses, I've been on the IS website and have downloaded the current HES expenditure guidance sheet.
One thing is puzzling me though, our household is 2 adults and 4 children, so we have been put in the bracket of 2 adults and 3 or more children.
that much I understand, what I can't get my head around is that a lot of the allowed expenses are LESS for a family with or more children than that of one with 2 children, surely this can't be right?! I think she has allowed me around £520 a month on the housekeeping, I know on the sheet it says £527 for 3 + children but £528 for 2??
also the allowances for travelling and clothing are less for the larger families, this seems absolutely ridiculous to me. I can only assume the ONS stats are based on Middle class parents with 2 kids that wear designer gear?!
anyway, just a thought for debate!
cheers

Do you actually spend more than what they have said? you can challenge the decision if you have proof you spend more, they are guidelines and not figures set in stone.
I had a similar thing happen with our energy usage, we provided a copy of our recent bill and it was accepted

Hi,
The HES is nothing more than a very poor table of guidance. It has no basis in law. The law says that the bankrupt must have sufficient funds to satisfy the REASONABLE needs of the bankrupt and their family.
I would stick to what you think is reasonable.
