Partners finance via a guarantor

Hello all,
First post here so please bare with me,
I'll try and keep it short,
Basically my partner obtained car finance from chapel house via Barclays partner finance as her boss stood guarantor for the loan, when this happened the loan was placed in my partners boss' name, recently (2 months ago) we owed £3,940 on the finance (it was £7,000 finance) about 7 weeks ago my partners now ex employer got a letter from Barclays saying the finance was cleared and they owed her some £400 and change as the finance was over payed, We never paid this and we also couldn't find out who did i.e family, friends etc. Today, my partners ex employer has turned up out of the blue on our doorstep letter in hand saying the finance is now not cleared and is now overdue 2 payments. So as you can imagine my partner is now worried about what the next steps are, can anyone shed any light on this? Do we just start making payments again?
regards,
p.s thanks for anyone who reads this.

Hi
Was the letter the ex employer brought today a letter from himself/his own company? or the finance company?
It sounds like perhaps ex employer has paid off the finance from barclays. But they now want your partner to pay them back?
How did your partner see the letter from the finance company to ex employer saying the finance was paid off? did ex employer show it her or did finance company send her a copy?
Did she stop paying because she had seen this letter?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi Tixy,
My partners ex employer called her up and said you need to come into the office I need to speak to you regarding your finance, so my partner went along to see what the issue was, when she got there her ex employer handed her the letter from Barclays which clearly states the finance was cleared, my partner called me to let me know what the situation was so I advised her to get a copy of the letter whilst she was there so she has proof of this letter further down the line if any issues should crop up, and as mentioned today about 50 minutes ago her ex employed turned up on our doorstep with another letter from barclays stating that the finance was now not cleared and has been cleared by mistake and was now outstanding 2 payments.
I can scan the letters and upload them, this is all quite a shock to me, my partner is upset & now thinks the bailiffs etc are going to be chasing her around and I honestly don't know what to advise her from here.
again thanks Tixy0 -
So it sounds like barclays made an error in the paperwork of the first letter. And their second letter corrects.
If that is the case then she should be able to start repayments again without any penatly costs being incurred. If she is in a position to pay the 2 missed payments then I would probably do that. If for some reason she can't then she should be able to negotiate to pay it over the rest of the term (or rather if it is ex employers loan then he will need to negotiate with the finance company).
Bailiffs won't start chasing at this stage (they could only be instructed if the finance company took court action and if the finance is in the name of ex employer then any court action would be against him).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
