Bankruptcy and vodafone

I'm just about ready for bankruptcy now. Filled in forms and got fees but vodafone have not sent me a final bill with termination fee on it, just a letter saying possible termination fee and that my contract will be ended if I don't pay. Do I have to wait for the final bill or will the OR just end the Vodafone contract and wipe the termination fee with everything else? I don't want to end up still owing Vodafone money after bankruptcy has been done but Vodafone are being very slow. I just want to get it done now. Anyone advise please?

You don't have to wait, it will be included in your BR anyway. Most people don't have all the paperwork to hand when they file for BR. Just put Vodafone as a creditor and you can explain in the notes that you don't know exactly how much it is yet. The OR can get what he needs or you can send it later.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65
SPC 9 (2016) #485 TOTAL £84
SPC 10 (2017) # 485 TOTAL: £464.80
SPC 11 (2018) #4850 -
So it doesn't matter that the contract hasn't actually been terminated then yet?
It looks as if your explanation plus a little something from fermi in another thread quoting bankruptcy terms answers that. Many thanks0 -
No, it doesn't matter because the account was running before your BR so will be included - even if it's not actually in arrears or you don't have the final termination fee.SPC 8 (2015) #485 TOTAL: £334.65

You might also be able to keep the contract going, there are allowances for mobile phone0

Hi Newman2,
I would advise you to check the terms and conditions of the contract with Vodafone before going bankrupt. If they have not defaulted the account yet and you go bankrupt before they do this, there is a risk that only the arrears would be included in the bankruptcy and not the full contract. If you wish to include this debt in the bankruptcy you may be better to wait for the default notice/ termination notice before going bankrupt.
However, some contracts will state that the contract automatically defaults in the event of bankruptcy - so you may be ok. Please be careful before proceeding.

thats thrown a potential spanner in. Letter from Vodafone dated 22/5 says that they will end agreement if arrears are not paid within seven days. Also states stat the arrears are Nd potential termination fee is. Can't make head nor tail of vodafones T&cs. So is this enough to indicate it has been terminated? Problem is that Vodafone may take ages to send out termination and I have yo do this asap as grant only lasts a certain amount of time yo pay for it,National_Debtline wrote: »Hi Newman2,
