So I have spoken to Colleys again and they are saying that it has been passed to another company to do the survey, I have spoken to the other company and they are now saying that they don't think they can get it booked in for at least the next two weeks but will phone me again soon.. It's turning into a bit of a saga now! Has anyone else had problems with Colleys recently, or am I just unlucky?

Finally got them to give me a date, not going to be until the 15th June. Completely wasted my annual leave and now going to have to do the valuation when I'm working nights. Nearly four weeks to get a valuation - be aware of this delay of you are going to use a mortgage company who uses Colleys. Pretty dreadful service from them, and if I hadn't been chasing this all day (on high rate phone numbers!) I wouldn't have got this far.. Avoid using if you can!

Are you selling or buying? If you're buying you are not required to be present when the valuation and survey is conducted.

For our halifax mortgage application the valuation was booked on 14th May for a week later on 21st May, by Colleys.

We are in east anglia but maybe your area has a high demand..

I'm in Essex, so maybe there is a high demand in the area, but nearly four weeks (18 working days) from their instruction & payment to the valuation seems like a very long time. I am the buyer, but I currently live in the house I'm looking to buy so need to be in to allow them access (can't leave the keys with someone else because of the dog - plus can't really be asleep in the bedroom when they come round haha)

Ah I see lol, did confuse me a bit as to why you needed to be present. The house I've just purchased has a dog and the EA had keys and would put the dog out etc when we visited. Can you ask if they will be willing to do this for you and come to an arrangement?

I think my application is a bit of a strange one really so sorry for confusing you. The dog is quite big (husky) so not sure if I could find someone to do that, and no estate agent is involved (apart from the rental agreement), the other trouble is that I'm back to work on nights by then so will need to get some sleep during the day, and they would be put off by my snoring during the day lol, I've been off work since I put in the application & not back until the 12th, was hoping it would be done while I'm off so this problem didn't arise, and it would seem I'm an exceptional circumstance and for some reason Colleys have sat on it for some time and then farmed it out to a rival, not particularly happy with their service so far, and all I get out of them is that they have breached their SLA and are sorry - but nothing else!
  • I've had the very same problem with Colleys regarding my buyers' mortgage application with TSB. I got a call from the surveyor on 21st May and the earliest date they had was today - 1st June.

Our buyers' mortgage offer is the last thing the chain is waiting for to exchange, so we're all hoping that now it's finally been done TSB will get the offer turned around sharpish!

It seems Colleys aren't doing very well at the moment, are you in the South east as well? They took my payment on the 20th May and I hadn't heard anything until yesterday when I contacted them. E-surv are trying to do all they can to help, but Colleys did absolutely nothing and only did something when myself and Halifax put pressure on them. It only arrived with e-surv yesterday afternoon, so for 8 working days Colleys sat on it and did absolutely nothing. I'm hoping that e-surv can assist, but it would definitely make me think twice about using a provider who use Colleys again.

Good news - I have phoned Colleys again this morning and chased them again, and they have now given me a booking for Friday, seems like chasing them works..
