OK, looks like due to the weekend and their denial that it was received on Friday they have taken the reading for yesterday, not overly happy but glad it is all sorted and I am getting the current FIT - I'm assured, but when I spoke to their team yesterday they did not mention needing a meter reading as it would be zero from the 23rd, which is when I was told I was eligible. All seems a bit uncoordinated.

My application was delayed 2 days by the EPC not being ready - when they came on the day of install.

I suppose it could have been worse and I cold have missed out on the current rate.

I think the lesson to anyone is call to make sure the application has been received, mine went via email and they then denied having received it - never got the email. So I phoned up on Monday to check, I knew I should have called on Friday....

So I've had the system installed, I'll fill in some more details later, but I've just had a call from EDF asking for a meter reading, I said well it was 0 when the system was installed - but they said, yes but that isn';t when your payments commence, they only start form when the application was submitted, which was a couple of days later, is this correct? Or should I receive the meter reading from zero?

they also said unless I could give them a reading there and then that I would not get the FIT rate until I could, so it would drop tomorrow if I gave them a reading tomorrow...?

Can anyone advise? i gave them a reading, but effectively have lost several days worth of generation now it seems.

Quick answer - the guidance changed a couple of years ago, it used to say that the FiT provider could use the initial figure in the application (usually 0 or 1) if only a few days had passed. But the new guidance is that they have to get a reading from the date the contract will start, that's why they should ask for an up to date reading.

You don't actually lose out, as the contract will still cover 20 years, you just don't get the extra few days (that I and many others probably got) prior to the contract start date.

I know others have commented since but I did advise you specifically on this, on this thread on the 2/6.

Longer answer. If you look at this thread you'll see the old and new guidance.

In post #65 we have the new guidance (quoted in a desperate attempt to justify their (false) accusation that tunnel had committed a fraud).

In post #70 we have the old guidance, which I quoted to show that the other poster new enough to think they were an expert, but not quite enough to know they weren't.

    @ all. Looking back:

Thanks for clearing it up, in the grand scheme of things it's only going to make a few ££s difference, I just wanted to check they were correct.

@theboylard - thanks, yes appreciate your advice, just too much to assimilate and remember in too short a time.

In reality I didn't see how I could have got the application in any sooner save for the 2 day delay on the EPC and then the weekend got in the way of checking if they had received it.

    Thanks All.
